Koh Samui

Just a few tips for people visiting.

If you are trying to get away from Tesco, Boots, McShite and all the others then this is not the place for you. Koh Samui is beautiful but not cheap.

Hire a motorcycle but don't drive at night, Koh Samui has the highest fatality rate in Thailand. Also keep as far to the left as possible - remember Thais love to overtake on blind bends and red lights don't seem to have caught on here.

At the North end of Koh Samui, this very impressive statue is well worth a visit.

Just down the beach from my bungalow. Run by an Australian and his Thai wife, they have great food but remember to ask for less spicy food - one bite of a Thai spicy salad had me crying. They also do bungalows for a reasonable price.

We all have our 'odd' days... This beautiful spot is near a temple where monks meditate all day. Uncle Ung with harpoon scares and shark bites and all that - this is what I caught!
